**Saturday Hockey: "A", "B", & "C" Semi-Finals**
Tuesday, May 1, 2012 5:23 PM

Gentleman, the Saturday semi-finals are set for this weekend. Here's a sneak preview for the match-ups this weekend:

"A" Division:
With a hard-faught 2-1 record, and a division best six goals against, the HC Dusters secured top spot in the "A" Division including a big upset win over the heavily favoured Hitmen who only lost two regulation games all season. Interestingly enough, all four teams advancing finished with 2-1 records, with the third and fourth tie-breaks having to be called into play to set up the semi-finals match-ups. "The Dust", although seeded first, will have a tough semi-finals match-up with the Cambridge Newfoundland Club, while the Puck N' Ice Holes will try to turn around their 0-3 regular season record with the defending champion Hitmen club. Both match-ups will be exciting to watch!

"B" Division:
What can you say about the surging Thunder? After a lack-luster season including just four wins, the eighth seeded club turned it up a notch, several in fact, winning all three games and placing them into the top spot heading into the semi-finals. It appears that their offense has shown up along with solid back-to-back games from their net-minder. The Thunder will see if they can keep their playoff run alive against a very tough Kings club who allowed 33 fewer goals then their semi-finals opponent in the regular season. On the other side of the "B" Division, the offensively gifted Galt Abe Lincolns will have a playoff meeting with the Nutty Parrots, who just squeaked into the semi-finals this weekend by stealing a point from the Scorpions with a last minute goal in their final round-robin game.

"C"Division:
It will be interesting to see if the Individuals "show up" vs. the Fog Devils, who have put the boots to them in three out of four meetings during the regular season. The Individuals however have pulled off some impressive wins during their roller-coaster season, so should the team get it together, this game could be tight to the finish. The Kodiaks who finished with an impressive 16-6 campaign look to knock out the pesky Ice Dogs who handed them a loss in their final regular season meeting. Like the other "C" semi-final match-up, this game could go either way.

OVERTIME RULES:

In the event that any of the semi-finals or final games are tied after regulation, a 10 minute run-time OT period will take place. If nothing is settled after the extra frame, an NHL style shootout will take place - three shooters, with the home team deciding which team shoots first. (Shooters will go individually unlike the simutaneous format in the regular season). If still tied after the three shooters, each team will elect one shooter in a sudden-death shootout until a winner is determined.

Note: Players must shoot in order. A shooter may NOT shoot twice unless the entire line-up as gone in order

Good luck to all teams!
